We are a dedicated group of people who have recovered from the disease of addiction that want to help the newcomer. We know from experience the struggles one can encounter on this sometimes new and frightening journey to achieve sobriety and become a productive member of society. The reasons are many that cause someone to turn to alcohol and/or drugs to change the way they feel about themselves. Domestic violence, sexual abuse, mental illness or a biological imbalance top the list. Chemical dependency is merely a symptom of an underlying problem and until those demons are laid to rest the chances of maintaining long-term sobriety are diminished. Addiction is a disease that tells the person afflicted the problem lies elsewhere. How can something that makes us feel good be bad? It convinces us that anything that gets in the way is the problem; family, jobs, responsibilities, ect. Research has proven that an active well established clean and sober support group dramatically increase the chances of an individual maintaining
long-term sobriety. That is where we come in.
The
purpose of this Alumni Association is to provide a close-knit clean and sober
support group for each other and to mentor and give support to all past and
current clients of Community Recovery Resources (CORR), HOPE House and their
affiliates.
